The first patients are transferred to the newly completed hospital at Parkville from Carlton on 20 January 1962. The patients were moved in a small fleet of ambulances, and the transfer from their bed in Carlton to their bed in Parkville took 15 minutes.
By 30 January there were 152 patients in the new hospital and elective surgery commenced on 4 February.
